I liked the Japanese Version. I was surprised to find out that there was no such thing as a Shadow Realm in the original version and that the penalty for losing was actually death or perminant mental or physical damage to your body or soul. That show had a surprising amount of blood and death in it's orignial form.

It did make sense the way the show presented it. It was based off of an dangerous ancient game with real monsters you know. It was just reintroduced with cards.
